Manual export of your keychain without using the cloud

If you do not wish to upload your keychain into cloud storage, there is also the possibility of transferring your keychain to a mobile device manually (requires Steganos Privacy Suite 17 or Steganos Password Manager 17). First, you need to create a version of your keychain that is compatible with our Mobile Privacy app:

 

  1. Open the keychain you want to import and click on "Mobile". Then, select "Use file export". The mobile version of your keychain will now be created.
  2. Click on "Show exported keychain file in Windows Explorer.
  3. The file you need to transfer to your mobile device is the one with the name of your keychain and the file extension ".wlt". Depending on whether you use an Android or iOS device, the next steps will differ. Please follow the instructions suitable for your device:

 

Transfer keychain file to iOS devices (iPhone, iPad)

  1. Connect your device to your PC using a USB cable.
  2. Open iTunes (or install it first, if necessary), select your device and go to Settings - Apps on the left.
  3. In "File Sharing", select "Mobile Privacy", click on "Add" and select the keychain.wlt file you created.
  4. Click on "Synchronize". 
  5. When you start the Mobile Privacy app the next time, your keychain will appear in your overview. It can be necessary to press the synchronize button in the app once (two small arrows in a circle at the bottom of the app). Please keep in mind that your keychain will not be updated automatically if you add changes to your keychain in Steganos Password Manager. You will have to transfer it again manually in order to transfer any changes made to your mobile device.

Transfer keychain file to Android devices

  1. Connect your device to your PC using a USB cable.
  2. Open Windows Explorer and select your mobile device.
  3. The keychain.wlt file has to be transferred to Device\Internal storage\Documents\Steganos\.
  4. After the file has been copied, it will be available in your overview as soon as you start or restart the Mobile Privacy app. Please keep in mind that your keychain will not be updated automatically if you add changes to your keychain in Steganos Password Manager. You will have to transfer it again manually in order to transfer any changes made to your mobile device.
