When creating a new Safe, you can set up an emergency password in addition to your master password.
The emergency password allows you to open a Safe with read-only access. That means that no modifications can be made to the Safe with the emergency password, e.g. no files can be added, modified or deleted. You can use the password to allow other persons access to the content of a Safe without giving out the actual master password.
The emergency password can for example be deposited in a Safe place or with a notary to allow surviving members of your family access to important documents encrypted in your Safe in case of your passing.
To create a Safe with an emergency password, just select the option "Set up emergency password" while creating a new Safe. First, enter the desired master password as usual, then in the next step after that enter the desired emergency password for read-only access.
If no emergency password is set, access to the Safe is only possible with the master password.
The emergency password can not be changed, modified or removed later. If you need to change or add an emergency password to a Safe, you need to replace it with a new Safe.
